Addiction doesn’t just affect the addicted person, it impacts the entire family. By offering different addiction rehab and therapy options, clients are able to successfully recover from addiction as well as make the necessary behavioral modifications to continue living addiction-free. Adiction takes a toll not only on the individual but the family as well. When using, addicts are selfish and self-centered; their wants and needs are placed ahead of the ones they love. Very often this can result in families experiencing a great deal of pain and suffering. It can be a very difficult and confusing time affecting emotionally, socially, and psychologically. Using a family therapy approach in curing addiction is important, both to heal the wounds caused by the addiction and to ensure that the patient has an informed support system ready to help them when they leave the inpatient treatment facility.
Our Family Therapy Options
Northwest Recovery Center understands the importance of involving the client’s family in the recovery process. We view the family as an essential component of a client’s ongoing recovery. Our Recovery professionals assess the family’s needs and provide education about chemical dependence and the disease of addiction. We offer ongoing family support during the client’s addiction treatment. Within the first week of treatment, the client’s primary therapist will establish communication between the family. When appropriate, the clinical staff will schedule visitations or phone sessions between the client and their family. Towards the end of treatment, the sessions focus on the reintegration of the client back into the family system- a very challenging time for everyone.
Friends and Family Therapy is Part of Rebuilding in Recovery
When addiction is addressed together as a family, it grants the individual additional love and support. Northwest Recovery will help the individual and their loved ones recover from the damage that addiction caused and rebuild their lives as a happy, healthy, and loving family.
